Our Story

Family-Run. 45 Years Strong.

Valhalla Contractors was founded in 1981 by Kevin Fanning, who built the company from the ground up on a wood-framing and carpentry background, and an uncompromising standard for commercial craftsmanship. What started as a hands-on framing operation grew over four decades into a full-service commercial general contracting firm operating across the western United States.

Self storage facilities became our primary specialty — and remains so today. Over 45 years, we have built and remodeled more self storage projects than any other building type, developing a depth of expertise in the structural, operational, and code requirements that make these facilities perform for their owners. The family tradition continued as Kevin's son Brian came up through every level of the business — laborer, foreman, superintendent, estimator, and project manager — before stepping into leadership.

Today, Valhalla operates in Texas and California with the same family-driven values that have guided us since day one — accountability, precision, and a commitment to doing the work right the first time, every time.

Client Relationships

Clients Who Come Back. That's the Measure.

The strongest endorsement we receive isn't a review — it's a repeat call. A significant portion of our work comes from clients who have built with us before and seek us out again specifically because of our track record, our expertise in their project type, and the trust we've earned over years of delivering. When a developer calls Valhalla for their third self storage facility, or a commercial property owner returns after a decade, that's the relationship we've spent all these years building.

What We Stand For

The Values That Drive Every Project

Accountability

We own the outcome. When something goes sideways on a project, we don't point fingers — we fix it. Our clients know that when Valhalla is on a job, the buck stops with us.

Precision

Commercial construction has no room for approximation. We plan carefully, build to spec, and hold our subcontractors to the same standard we hold ourselves.

Transparency

No surprises. We communicate proactively — on budget, schedule, and scope — so our clients always know exactly where their project stands.

Longevity

We build for the long term — in our structures and in our client relationships. Most of our work comes from repeat clients and referrals who trust us with their next project because we delivered on the last one.

Our Trade Partners

The Right Subs Make the Difference.

A general contractor is only as good as the team behind the team. We've built and maintained relationships with skilled subcontractors across Texas and California who share our standards for quality, schedule, and accountability. On complex projects — especially self storage facilities — having the right trade partners isn't a nice-to-have. It's what gets the job done right.

  • Vetted subcontractors across all major commercial trades
  • Long-term relationships built on consistent performance
  • Held to the same quality and schedule standards as our own crews
  • Familiar with self storage-specific scopes and sequencing

"A GC is only as good as the team behind the team."

We've spent 45 years earning the trust of the best trade contractors in our markets — and they've earned ours. That network is one of the most valuable things we bring to every project.

Leadership

The People Behind the Projects

Valhalla is led by the Fanning family — a father-and-son team whose combined experience spans every level of commercial construction, from field labor to executive leadership.

Kevin Fanning

Kevin Fanning

President & CEO

Kevin founded Valhalla Contractors in 1981 with a wood-framing background and a vision for what a commercial general contractor could be. Over 45 years, he has grown the company into a trusted name across the western U.S., building lasting relationships with developers, architects, and commercial property owners who demand accountability and results.

Brian Fanning

Brian Fanning

Vice President

Brian grew up in the business — literally. Starting as a laborer and working his way through foreman, superintendent, estimator, and project manager, he brings a ground-level understanding of commercial construction that few executives can match. That hands-on foundation shapes every decision he makes in the field and in the office.
